The weekends are made for bacon

Really, is there a better place to visit on weekends than Pete's Kitchen on Colfax Ave? It's been helping people enjoy Saturdays (and recover from Friday nights) since 1942.

BlogDog waits patiently outside the door, hoping someone will bring him some bacon.

Can I get there from here?

BlogDog patiently waits for the light-rail to come. He's hoping it will take him to where the squirrels are slow and the snacks are free.

Ahoy, look out ahead!

After cruising through bustling downtown Denver, BlogDog surveys the scene from Wewatta Street, just northwest of Union Station.

Rising in the background is the Millenium Bridge (which he previously referred to as "that white ship spire thing.")

Every buddy needs a buddy

BlogDog has a bit of an independent streak and is more than a little possessive of his toys, but he also loves his dog buddies.

Tonight, he and his friend, Grandpa, took to the streets together for a walk in Capitol Hill.

Delusions of doggie granduer

BlogDog poses by the statue of Wynken, Blynken and Nod sailing off in a wooden shoe just off the running path on the east side of Washington Park.

"Perhaps, one day, stories will be written and statues will be erected about me," he imagines.

An unannouced visit to the governor

BlogDog took a snowy stroll to the front gate of the Governor's Residence at the Boettcher Mansion at 400 E. 8th Avenue tonight. (Click on the photo to enlarge for a better view.)

BlogDog was hoping to run into Gov. Bill Ritter and share his vision of a state without leash laws.

A lazy Sunday in West Wash Park

Snowy, grey, cold, weather hit Denver today.

BlogDog threw on a hat and posed in front of some classic bungalows in West Wash Park. Then, he went home, curled up on his bed and slept for four hours.

Being cool at the high school

BlogDog bounces around in front of South High School in Denver.

He performed one of his limited repertoire of tricks -- high five, anyone? -- in front of this
National Historic Landmark.

You can't interest an old dog in a new president

Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States today. Millions of people around the world celebrated this historic event.

BlogDog was more interested in his blue football and the possibility of another walk.

The holidays never end in Denver

Although the holidays have been over for a weeks for most people, the city of Denver doesn't like to end the celebration.

BlogDog took an evening walk tonight and checked out the lights on the City and County of Denver building.

A sunny day at Wash Park

The temperature rose above 60 degrees today. So nice!

BlogDog enjoyed the chance to observe the geese at the lake at Wash Park.
He would have loved to get closer, but Matt and Mary didn't think that was in the best interest of the geese.

National Western Stock Show time!

Nothing BlogDog likes more than a little western spirit!

Hanging out in LoDo, he found this ad for the
National Western Stock show, going on now just a few miles north of downtown.

Mile high at the Capitol Building

BlogDog starts his journey around Denver at 5280 feet above sea level on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building.

There's some debate about the exact location of the mile high mark, but BlogDog ran up and down the stairs to make sure he covered it. (Or, more likely, he was trying for a better view of the squirrels that tantalize him there.)
